F

2008 Salento Negroamaro

The San Marzano F is a captivating red wine hailing from the sun-drenched region of Salento in Italy. This 2008 vintage showcases the unique characteristics of the Negroamaro varietal, offering a rich and full-bodied experience. Its deep, dark hue invites you to explore its complex aromas, which meld notes of ripe blackberries, plums, and hints of baking spices, creating an indulgent olfactory experience. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully balanced with a gratifying acidity that brightens the fruit intensity, making each sip incredibly refreshing. The tannins are notable yet smooth, providing structure without overwhelming the elegant fruit. This wine leans toward a dry profile, making it an excellent companion for hearty dishes such as grilled meats or aged cheeses. Enjoy this wine as an expression of Salento's terroir, where tradition and quality unite beautifully.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
